There are four World Junior Hockey game on the slate today, including Team Canada vs. USA (7:30 p.m. ET, TSN). Let’s look at a few betting opportunities for this game beginning with straight up odds to win as well as puckline odds (i.e. goal spread). First the straight up odds to win: Bet365.com Bwin.com Canada 1.18 1.17 Payoff on $100 bet $18 $17 USA 4.75 4.50 Payoff on $100 bet $375 $350 Because Canada is such a big favorite, the odds are not very attractive. The odds for Team Canada are slightly betting at Bet365.com, however, you would have risk more than $550 to win $100. As for the U.S., a small wager on the longshot might be worth the risk. A $20 bet a Team USA at Bet365.com would net you $75 if the Americans were to pull off a miracle. Let’s now look at the Puckline odds: Bet365.com Bwin.com 5Dimes.com Canada -1.5 1.64 -2.5 2.10 -1.5 1.71 Payoff on $100 bet $64 $110 $87 USA +1.5 2.15 +2.5 1.65 +1.5 2.10 Payoff on $100 bet $115 $65 $110 In this case, I would suggest that 5Dimes.com has the best odds if you were to bet on Team Canada. The Canadians would only have to win by two goals and the payoff is the most generous of the three. If you wanted to bet on the U.S., I would be inclined to go with Bwin.com. The payoff is as generouls as the other two books, but Team USA could lose by two goals and still cover the spread. Bet365.com, Bwin.com and 5Dimes.com are safe, reliable, licenced sportsbooks that accept Canadian players. I highly recommend all three of
There are two World Junior Hockey game on the slate today, including Team Canada vs. Slovakia (7:30 p.m. ET, TSN). The other game, which will be a little more competitive, features Sweden vs. Russia (6 p.m. ET, TSN2). As far as betting opportunities are concerned, for the Canada-Slovakia game we’ll look at puckline (i.e. goal spread) odds since straight up odds are ridiculous – Canada is a 1.02 (or -5000) favorite. For the Sweden-Russia game, we’ll focus on the straight up odds. Bet365.com Bwin.com 5Dimes.com Canada -4.5 1.62 -5.5 1.90 -5.5 1.87 Payoff on $100 bet $62 $90 $87 Slovakia +4.5 2.20 +5.5 1.80 +5.5 1.87 Payoff on $100 bet $120 $80 $87 I like the Bet365.com odds better in this case. The payoff is not as great, but Canada only has to win by five as opposed to six goals in order for them to cover the spread. Bet365.com Bwin.com 5Dimes.com Sweden 1.47 1.40 No odds Payoff on $100 bet $47 $40 Russia 2.60 2.75 No odds Payoff on $100 bet $160 $175 Both Sweden and Russia beat Austria by only four goals. Based on that fact alone, Russia at 2.75 would has some decent underdog value. Bet365.com, Bwin.com and 5Dimes.com are safe, reliable, licenced sportsbooks that accept Canadian players. I highly recommend all three of

Canada is virtually a touchdown favorite in today’s World Junior hockey game against Switzerland (3:30 p.m. ET, TSN). Online sportsbook Bet365.com is not listing straight moneyline odds for today’s game. Instead, the British book is offering only puckline odds, which essentially combines a goal spread with moneyline odds. Team Canada, who crushed Latvia 16-0 on Saturday, is listed at -6.5 1.90 at Bet365.com. This means Canada is a 6.5-goal favorite. In other words, Canada must win by at least seven goals to cover the spread. If Canada were to win by seven or more, a $100 wager on Team Canada would payout $90. On the flipside, the Swiss are listed at +6.5 1.76. This mean the Swiss could lose by up to six goals and still cover the spread. If they were to cover, a $100 bet on the Swiss would payout $76. Bwin.com does have straight moneyline odds, but you’re going to have to wager big bucks in order to make some money. Team Canada is listed as a 1.02 favorite at the European book. This means you would have to risk $5,000 in order to win $100. The Swiss are listed as 18.00 dogs, which means a $100 bet on Switzerland would pay $1,700 if the Swiss were to pull off a miracle. Both books have set the over/under at
