Three-team NHL parlay for Thursday, January 31

Below is a three-team NHL parlay for Thursday, January 31, 2013. The cells of the two charts are colour-coded based on wager type. This is to help with comparison analysis.

As you can see, the lottery corporations are not consistent in their offerings. Only BC and Quebec offer side betting on regulation time (first chart) and final results including overtime and shootouts (second chart).

Ontario, meanwhile, only offers side betting on final results, while the Atlantic Lottery (Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI) and the Western Canada Lottery (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta) only offer side betting on results after overtime, not including shootouts. (Pretty sneaky, eh?)

Regardless, you will also notice that the online sportsbooks – SportsInteraction.com, Ladbrokes.com, bet365.com – almost always have better odds and payoffs than the lotteries, which should come as no surprise. After all, the lotteries are government-owned.

OHL Betting: Niagara at London

The Niagara IceDogs (19-10-1-1) visit the league-leading London Knights (24-5-0-2) in Ontario Hockey League (OHL) action on Friday night (7 p.m. ET, Sportsnet).

The leading scorer for the Knights is RW Seth Griffith (5-foot-11, 185 pounds), who has 20 goals and 31 assists in 31 games. The 19-year-old native of Wallaceburg, Ontario was chosen in the fifth round (131st overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins. He’s currently tied for the second most points in the OHL (51).

The leading scorer for the IceDogs is RW Brett Ritchie (6-foot-4, 215 pounds), who has 25 goals and 23 assists in 31 games. The 19-year-old native of Orangeville, Ontario was chosen in the second round (44th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars. He currently has the fourth most points in the OHL (48).
