There are two quarterfinal World Junior Hockey games on the slate today: Russia vs. Switzerland (5:00 p.m. ET, TSN) and USA vs. Finland (9 p.m. ET, TSN).

Both Russia and Team USA are big favoties, so let’s look at the puckline odds (i.e. goal spread) for each game. First Russia vs. Switzerland:

Russia
-3.5 2.00
-3.50 2.10
-4.5 2.40
Payoff on $100 bet
$100
$110
$140

Switzerland
+3.5 1.71
+3.5 1.65
+4.5 1.56
Payoff on $100 bet
$71
$65
$56

If you’re going to bet on Russia, Bwin.com has the best odds – the Russians only have to win by four goals and the payoff is a little more generous.

If you’re going to bet on the dog, Sportsbook.com has the best price – the Swiss can lose by four goals and still cover the spread.

Now let’s look at USA vs. Finland:

USA
-1.5 1.60
-2.5 2.20
-2.5 2.30
Payoff on $100 bet
$60
$120
$130

Finland
+1.5 2.25
+2.5 1.60
+2.5 1.63
Payoff on $100 bet
$125
$60
$63

In this case, if you’re going to bet on the Americans, I would suggest that Bet365.com has the best odds – the U.S. only has to win by two goal to cover.

If you wanted to bet on Finland, I would be inclined to go with Sportsbook.com – the payoff is a little more generous and the Fins can lose by two goals and still cover.

Bet365.com, Bwin.com and Sportsbook.com are safe, reliable, licenced sportsbooks that accept Canadian players. I highly recommend all three of them.
