2013 Stanley Cup Odds

Oddsmakers aren’t expecting the upstart Los Angeles Kings to repeat as Stanley Cup Champions in the lockout-shortened NHL season, which is expected to begin on January 19.

The Kings, who barely squeaked into the playoffs in the NHL’s Western Conference, were the first No. 8 seed to win the Stanley Cup since the conference-based playoff format was introduced in 1994. The Kings have the third-best odds to win the Cup at most online sportsbooks, including British sportsbook WilliamHill.com, which has the Kings listed at +1000 (10-1 or 11.00).

Sidney Crosby’s Pittsburgh Penguins have the best odds followed by the New York Rangers, who had the top record in the Eastern Conference last season.

As for those blue-blooded Toronto fans who are hoping for Maple Leafs to break their 45-year drought, the odds are long, as usual. Nevertheless, Leafs fans can take heart – Toronto has managed to avoid its annual collapse and its already January.
